Why are you avoidant ?
Understanding why people are avoidant.
There are sooo many types of coping mechanics and I think that being avoidant is one of them…
But how does one become avoidant …..?
Let’s see
The first most obvious reason is trauma…or in fact any family related issues
When a person goes through a phase of this then they learn to avoid things because their brain is trying to protect them
Family trauma can make emotions feel too intense or confusing.
Instead of processing them they:
Shut down emotionally
Avoid attachment / closeness
Ok this is there…. But what if a person hasn’t gone through some family related problem???? Why are they still so avoidant..
If someone grew up feeling powerless or constantly criticised, they may avoid challenges, decisions, or responsibility because they expect failure or rejection. This is also known as learned helplessness
Also….If someone never learned how to process feelings, handle conflict, or tolerate discomfort, avoidance becomes the easiest option…
Also your environment causes you to feel things differently but it shouldn’t let you stay like this forever.
Let me know if you u all want to know about different attachment styles

Avoidant behaviour often comes from learning that closeness once felt unsafe, so distance feels protective. I learned this in my psychology class and ended up relating it to a friend who has this coping mechanism they don’t just avoid the issue, they tend to distance themselves from everything in general.
girl actually wrote it😭
