neither too old nor too young
In two months, I’ll be 18. And while i don’t think much will change overnight, it does feel a little strange knowing I’m almost done being 17.
Seventeen is a weird age. You’re too old to be treated like a kid, but too young to be treated like an adult. People expect you to start making decisions that will supposedly affect the rest of your life.
One thing I’ve noticed about this age is that it’s one of the most frequently mentioned ages in songs. It has been mentioned in songs from ABBA, MARINA or literally any of the artists in this world.
DANCING QUEEN BY ABBA
The song romanticises 17 as a time of freedom and excitement.Rather than focusing on growing up, it is about the feeling of being young and having the world ahead of you.

EDGE OF SEVENTEEN- STEVIE NICKS
17 isn’t portrayed as carefree or idealised here.
it feels like an age on the edge of change, capturing the uncertainty and emotions that often come with growing up.

Everyone must have heard the lyrics “ they only want you when you are seventeen when you’re 21 , you are no fun.”
This song takes a different approach to 17.
Instead of celebrating it, it seems to question why people are so obsessed with youth in the first place and why so much value is attached to being young.

This song stands out to me because it acknowledges that growing up isn’t always exciting. Sometimes it’s just wondering whether you’re doing enough and where you’re supposed to go next.

This song feels like looking back at an earlier version of urself. It reflects on growing up, learning from your experiences, and seeing things differently with time.
there is some sadness in it… but also a sense of acceptance
WHAT I THINK :
I don’t really know what to make of seventeen. Some songs make it seem like the best time of your life, while others make it sound like everything is falling apart.
I think it’s somewhere in between. It’s an age where a lot is changing… but nothing has really changed yet. You’re constantly thinking about the future, yet a part of you still wants things to stay the same.
Everyone experiences it differently, but it seems to leave an impression on almost everyone.

I remember on the last day of my 17 I just sat there and watched the clock turn 12 and I was an adult, nothing changed😂
i turned 18 in jan this year and honestly this is the most relatable piece ever. the only feeling that remained the same is that i thought i was running out of time at 17 and at 18 i still feel the same although i think i should not never feel like this
